Lynda Carter

Carter was born in Phoenix as the daughter Juanita (nee Cordova) and Colby Carter. Her mother, who hails from Mexico, is Mexican, Spanish and French. She is the daughter of Vincent and a brother and Pamela as a sister. Carter was 5 years old when she made her television debut on the Lew Kings Talent Show. In high school, Carter was part of a group named Just Us. The group played conga, marimba, an acoustic, stand-up bass, and an electric. One girl from the group also played guitar. Lynda began to sing at a local pizza joint when she was just 15. 8 years later, at 16 years old, Lynda joined two of her cousins to form another bandcalled The Relatives. Gary Burghoff, actor, was the drummer for the band. The band first performed in the Sahara Hotel and Casino lounge in Las Vegas for three months; because Carter was not yet 21 years old, she was required to go through the kitchen.Carter went to Arizona State University. She was voted "Most talented" and decided to get into music. Carter was a candidate for The Garfin Gathering in 1970. She later went on tour together with Howard (Speedy), Garfin. Their first concert together was held in the Holiday Inn Chinatown in San Francisco in 1970, which was so brand new that it didn't have a sidewalk entrance. Consequently, they played mostly to the hotel staff and hotel guests who parked their cars in the underground garage. The Garfin Gathering played shows in several Nevada casinos, which included those between Lake Tahoe, Carson City and Reno. Carter was able to quit the Garfin Gathering in 1972 to pursue acting and she went back to Arizona.
